What is the Technical Performance of PWR Leather?

Having ‘cut his teeth’ on the development and creation of high performance sports glove leathers at Pittards, Dr Leather certainly knows what it takes to create some of the finest Golf gloves in the marketplace, and has been fortunate enough to have been involved with many of today’s well known products.

The raw material of choice in our opinion is either hairsheep (cabretta) or kangaroo for a leather golf glove allowing the two foundation pillars of fit and feel to be addressed. These fibre structures possess the internal makeup to confer superior softness and conformity to the hand, whilst still providing high levels of breathability and dimensional stability.

We engineer within the leather a water resistant tannage, whereby the fibres are treated at a microscopic level with synthetic hydrophobing agents, which are chemically reacted at the collagen fibril level. This is a very important feature that ultimately aids in the whole moisture management of the glove, and ensures that the hands of player remain dry and comfortable.

Our recommended thickness of leather for this type of glove can ranges between 0.3 – 0.5 mm, although this can be adapted depending upon the construction of the glove. Furthermore, our leathers are tanned to provide high levels of perspiration resistance in the tannage, to ensure that the leather stays soft and supple throughout its lifetime. Standard leathers simply soak up the sweat and then dry out very hard with the leather eventually shrinking and cracking.

In addition we offer integrated machine washability to provide the consumer to clean their glove in a simplistic manner and a textured leather surface to enhance the grip characteristics which also offers the brand a material with very high cutting coefficients.

Our affiliated glove factories are capable of making all types of golf gloves from full leather through to (dare I say it!!!) fully synthetic gloves.
